Unit 4

UNIT 4 ·
Describe your experience. Did you find it beneficial? Difficult? Why or why not? Would you recommend this to others? Why or why not?
Personally I find these exercises to be a bit hard for me to get into. With this one I did find the sound of the waves to be very relaxing. For me I think that the exercises are long and I find it hard to concentrate after awhile. I would recommend these to them under the pretense that they are long.
·  What is the concept of "mental workout"? What does the research indicate are the proven benefits of a mental workout? How can you implement mental workouts to foster your psychological health?
A mental workout is the process of distressing the mind so to speak. When you do this you open up your conscious mind to let it expand and decompress. This is a very important thing to do in order for our mind to expand. I need to start doing more of the workouts but I can never find the time…so I need to tart to make the time!

Unit 3 and the Rainbow Meditation

This week we have 4 questions to answer and they are
1. Based on your reflections, and on a scale of 1 to 10 (ten being optimal wellbeing), where do you rate your A-physical wellbeing, B-spiritual well-being, C-psychological well-being? Why?

For question number 1 my optimal well being for physical would be an 8 because I feel I am pretty balanced and I do not think I m overly stressed by my lifestyle. My spiritual well being would be a 5 because I do not practice faith like others, I do not go to church every Sunday, but I do go for major spiritual holidays like Christmas and Easter. Could I be better at going, yes, and I am working on that. Now my psychological well being is a high 8, simply because there is room for improvement on distressing, but by walking and exercising I feel that this is a great way to distress.

 2. Develop a goal for yourself in each area (physical, spiritual, psychological).

My goal physically would be to maintain healthy eating habits and just maintain my exercise routine.  My goal spiritually would be to start going to church more often. Now psychological goals would be to just try to maybe meditate and get more Yoga time in, because now I am doing it only about 3 days a week so I would like to do it more like 5-6 times a week.

3. What activities or exercise can you implement in your life to assist in moving toward each goal?

Like I posted about above going to church more often and also doing more Yoga and meditation.

 4. Complete the relaxation exercise The Crime of the Century. To hear this exercise, click here. Describe your experience. (What it beneficial? Frustrating? etc.)

The exercise was interesting.  It was hard to get this one to work. I did try it 2 times but towards the middle it just didn't work for me. The rainbow meditation was interesting but did not work. So all in all it was kind of frustrating because I could not get it to work all that well, But With some of it I already feel grounded and safe so maybe that is why it did not work to well.

Reflection

The refection clip was interesting to me. I did at first find it very hard to listen to it because it was WAY to slow or me, I need things to go at a fast pace in order to keep my attention because I just do not have a lot of time. But I did start it over and even though it was hard I did do what it directed me and I followed all the instructions. With the blood flow instruction I found it funny because when I get a migraine I do this to direct the blood flow from my head into my hands, I just never knew it was a form of medication and mind cleansing. I probably should do this more often because after a few work/school days I find it really hard to shut down. I did also find myself really pretty calm and sleepy after this was completed. I do not know if I could do this everyday at first just because at this point it is very time consuming, I could however do it every couple of days and then maybe get the hang of it and incorporate it everyday like I did the gym and now it is habit to work out my body so i do need to find time to work out my mind.
