you made progress toward the goals? Explain.
·
Have you implemented the activities you chose for your well-being in
each of the three areas? Explain.
February
17, 2012 and the answers I gave that day are: My optimal well
being for physical would be an 8 because I feel I am pretty balanced and I do
not think I am overly stressed by my lifestyle. My spiritual well being would
be a 5 because I do not practice faith like others, I do not go to church every
Sunday, but I do go for major spiritual holidays like Christmas and Easter.
Could I be better at going, yes, and I am working on that. Now my psychological
well being is a high 8, simply because there is room for improvement on
distressing, but by walking and exercising I feel that this is a great way to
distress.
The answers I give today are my
physical aspect would be an 8 still simply because I am getting better but I am
not at a level higher than that. It will take me being excepted into the YMCA
and actively going daily to see this rating go up, other than that as far as
the stressful nature of my lifestyle I still do not see me as being overly
stressed but since I am more aware of it, this rating may change in the near
future. My spiritual rate is a 6 just because I talk to God more frequently. I
still have not starting going to church to worship, I do make an effort to talk
to him at least four times a week now. As for the psychological rating, I would
still say I am a high 8. I still have not mastered the distressing part of it,
but I am working on it. I have taken up Krav Maga which has taught me a lot, because
in the beginning of each class the instructor makes us meditate for 20 minutes
before the beginning of the lesson as to free us of all distractions and have
us start with an open mind so we can fully take in everything from that day’s
lesson. There will always be room for improvement
on these ratings because there is never a perfect trend.
· Summarize your
personal experience throughout this course. Have you developed improved
well-being? What has been rewarding? What has been difficult? How will this
experience improve your ability to assist others?
I do
believe that I have developed and improved well being, and it has been very
rewarding and it has only been 10 weeks, I eagerly await the future to see in 6
months to a year when I review this where I will be then. It has not been easy
but I cannot say that it has been hard either, I would say it has been more of
an adjustment. I feel that I will be more in tune toward others and take their
feelings into consideration. I will come at others with soft hands so to speak.
Single Mom,
ReplyDeleteI would rate your spirituality higher than a 6. I guess to me there is a difference between being spiritual and being religious. I am not religious and have fallen out of belief with traditional religion, as in going to church. I do believe in God and still pray. For me anyway, I don’t think I have to be religious to be spiritual. For me spirituality is something that you have inside of you, and I think you have it inside of you or you would not be the great mom you are.
Take care,
Angie

DeleteYou are right with that you do not have to be religious to be spiritual and I do agree I think a lot of how I looked at it before I read your post was the main stream way of things. I want to thank you for your kind words!!

Hi Arline
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you are well on your way to improving each area of your overall well-being. Even though it may not feel like things are improving quickly, it will take some time. Some snags may come up along the way that you may have to back track and start over. It happens. I have been there and still work on things each day. My plan is also to see how I am doing in 6 months to a year. By that time, I hope I am well on my way to achieving my goals or have made them. I would suggest you stick to your time to review. It will be long enough time to know if things are working for you or not. Great post this week and good luck in your future!

Arline,
ReplyDeleteI have the exact same problem as you with actively going to church services. I know that a service can be watched online but it is not the same as a face to face sermon. Krav Maga sounds interesting. I would like to take a tai chi or meditation class sometime in the near future. I need to be able to take myself out of the stressful flow of life and nurture my inner self. It was great reading your posts and learning with you throughout this class. I wish you the best in the future!
Hi Single Mom,
ReplyDeleteYou do have a plan which is the way to began. You might try journaling to help you stay on course. Also try Club Fitness or Planet Fitness, they are only $10 a month after you pay their processing fee. That is what I am doing, the YMCA is too expensive right now for me. I will pray for you also that God will lead you to the church that fits your needs. May you continue to flourish, psychologically, physically and spiritually.
Take care and have an awesome life!
